Art After Dark

I think it would be great if Art After Dark was more than one weekend a month! I have always wanted to go but have never been able to because of the timing. I know it is a good time, and I know it benefits the city and small local business owners, and would love to be able to go more. Maybe every other weekend? I am a student at Cal Poly and have talked about this with a lot of other friends also!

Parking Downtown

Offer congesting pricing for parking

Make the cost of pricing increase during times of heavy parking demand, and decrease during times of low parking demand, so that there are always a few spaces available for those who are willing to pay. This also keeps traffic lower because people stop driving in circles looking for parking.

Homelessness

Housing the Homeless

Many cities have conducted studies which have concluded that it is cheaper to house the homeless than to let them remain homeless and pay the externalities costs of the homeless population. What if the city passed an additional development fee on all market rate housing and commercial development to help pay the costs for a program housing the homeless?

Improve Housing Affordability

Equity and Affordability

I think housing cooperatives are an important resource to meet housing needs, offering flexibility in the types and structure of housing cooperatives, financial benefits for co-op members, a sense of community, pride of ownership, and stability in the housing market. A city needs to govern and ensure adequate reserves for maintenance in cooperative housing.
